This pair of tall Chinese wine decanter was made during
the Kangxi Period of the Qing Dynasty. It has motifs of Dragon and
Phoenix on the top and bottom areas. It stands at 9 inches tall with a
width of 5 inches.
Note the difference of the bottom bases of both decanters, being shaped like a male and female pair. The straight being a male and curvy one being a female.
these are all fabulous! i so love chinese art!

DeleteNow i know your English name. Male and female, what a pair, so exquisite.
ReplyDeleteHey that is his name and I have no English name. My name is Anay.
DeleteIt sent my heads wild trying to figure out their practice of using male and female decanters! It could be some wares for high ranking drinkers who were male chauvinists.
Oh, my bad! So you have no English name but a Tamil name. Why do you say that they are male chauvinists to have female and male decanters? Meaning to say females can only use female decanters and not allowed to use the male decanters?
