Blue & White Bowls
Undated bowls from the Ching Dynasty period. They were commonly used as ceramic soup bowls.
Your comment really tickled me!! It really looks like tadpoles except that the ancient Chinese artisans would always use limited & fixed symbols on their wares. Tadpoles are not listed in their art history. LOL
A few years ago, I studied its drawings and thought it was some crawling herbal plants that were popularly grown in that province. I studied Art History in the States and learnt that ancient Chinese often painted anything to commemorate the occasions or places - Lunar New Year, Mountains, Rivers, Mei Hua, Plum Blossoms etc.
The motives look like tadpoles.
