This is a pair of rare porcelain Wine Cups used by the Chinese Imperial Courts.

The top view shows the floral motifs with swimming fishes.
They can balanced themselves on the stilt stand/column. I am afraid to be near them for fear they will topple and break.
ReplyDeleteThese cups are funny and unique to me. I often wondered why they had to make the stand when they could still drink wines straight from the bowls. Perhaps it was not made for wine drinking.
ReplyDeleteNot for wine drinking, then maybe it was to put wine in it as offering for the ancestral altar?
